Liminal Silence

The spaces between the noise.

There are places that seem to exist outside of time.

Empty hallways. Unmade rooms. Waiting areas after everyone has gone home. Doorways leading somewhere we cannot see. Spaces caught between what they once were and whatever they may become next.

Liminal Silence explores these quiet thresholds.

I am drawn to places where human presence can still be felt, even when no one remains in the frame. A chair turned slightly toward an empty table. Curtains moving above a cold air-conditioning vent. Fluorescent light falling across worn carpet. A doorway left open as though someone has only stepped away for a moment.

These spaces are not completely abandoned.

They are waiting.

Waiting for another guest.
Another conversation.
Another night.
Another life to pass through them.

The photographs hold the uneasy stillness between arrival and departure—the moment after something has ended but before the room has accepted that it is alone.

Silence is rarely empty. It contains the hum of electricity, the smell of damp walls, distant traffic, footsteps that may only exist in memory, and all the things a place has witnessed but cannot tell us.

I photograph these spaces because they feel familiar.

They carry loneliness, but they also carry endurance. They remind us that even after people leave, something remains behind: a stain, an impression, a little warmth beneath the artificial light.

Liminal Silence is about that fragile space between presence and absence.

The pause before the world begins moving again.
