Street Portraits

Street Portraits

Most people pass one another without ever really looking.

I walk the streets searching for faces that make me stop—a weathered expression, guarded eyes, a quiet defiance, or a posture carrying the weight of years. Then comes the most difficult part: stepping out of my own silence and asking a stranger to stand before my camera.

As an introvert, every street portrait begins with discomfort.

A conversation I might never have started.
A small negotiation of trust between two people who, moments earlier, knew nothing about one another.

There are no studios, assistants, or carefully constructed sets. There is only the available light, the noise of the street, the pavement beneath our feet, and whatever truth a person is willing to reveal during the few minutes we share.

The street removes the polish.

What remains is expression, gesture, tenderness, exhaustion, pride, and all the small marks that life leaves behind.

I am drawn to people who seem to carry evidence of where they have been. Not because I believe a photograph can explain an entire life, but because it can honor a single moment of being seen.

These are some of the most personal photographs I make. Each portrait asks me to move beyond my own introversion and meet another person without a script. In photographing strangers, I often recognize something of myself—the desire to be noticed, understood, and remembered.

For a moment, we stop being strangers.

The shutter opens.

Something remains.
