Be Still

Objects remember.

Some objects refuse to remain silent.

A dried flower.
A forgotten photograph.
A glass stained by fingerprints.
A book opened to a page someone once needed.

Alone, they may appear ordinary. When gathered beneath the light, they begin to speak to one another.

Be Still is my exploration of the private lives of objects.

Still-life photography allows me to step away from the moving world and construct a quieter one. I collect objects for their shape, texture, history, or the feeling they leave behind. I arrange them slowly, watching how the light moves across their surfaces and how one object changes the meaning of another.

For a moment, the photographer becomes a painter.

Light becomes the brush.
Shadow becomes the unfinished sentence.
The objects become pieces of a story whose beginning and ending remain unknown.

I am drawn to things that show evidence of having lived: worn edges, fading flowers, scratched glass, folded paper, old tools, and discarded fragments that someone once touched, carried, loved, or left behind.

These photographs are not meant to provide answers.

They are small emotional puzzles—arrangements of memory, beauty, mortality, humor, and loss. Each viewer brings something different to them, recognizing a personal history that may never have belonged to the objects at all.

Still life asks us to stop.

To look longer.
To notice what remains when movement disappears.
To understand that even the quietest things can carry the weight of a life.

Everything is still.

Nothing is empty.
